BEN NATHAN

Ben Nathan

Ben Nathan has been dancing Lindy Hop since he was dragged to his first dance in 2003 in Atlanta. In 2006, he moved to San Francisco and furthered his love of Lindy by attending both weekly dances and traveling to a number of events. This led to his coordinating of the San Francisco Lindy Exchange in 2008 (as well as 2009 and 2010), which is one of the highlights of his dancing life.

In addition to organizing, he cultivated his dancing through a love of artists like Jimmy Witherspoon, Sam Cooke, Eddie Vinson, and Ray Charles. With their styles in mind, he has been DJing since 2009 at Lindy Hop events such as the San Luis Obispo Lindy Exchange, Cat's Corner, The (now defunct) Rent Party, The Connecticut Lindy Exchange, The Atlanta Lindy Exchange, and (of course) The 9:20 Special.

A few favorite tunes of his to dance to:

  • Kidney Stew - Eddie Vinson
  • Frankie and Johnny - Sam Cooke
  • Smack Dab In The Middle - Ray Bryant Trio
  • For Dancers Only - Junior Mance
  • Moanin' - Ray Charles
  • Beaver Junction - Count Basie
  • Uhh! - Joe Louis Walker
