CHAD & BRANDEE
Chad Kubo & Brandee Selck
Chad Kubo is the original Ambassador of Swing in San Francisco. He has been dancing lindy hop since 1994, and has performed and taught workshops in the United States and abroad. He performed in and choreographed a stage play about swing dancing at The Berkeley Repertory Theater. He is the co-founder of San Francisco's Lindy in the Park (www.lindyinthepark.com), and co-founded and owned (with Melanie Moore Kubo) The Doghouse. Drawing on his 32 years of martial arts experience (black belts in aikido, judo, and karate), as well as a background in gymnastics, Chad emphasizes movement and body dynamics in his lindy classes, such as Zen and the Art of Lindy Hop, Creativity and Musicality, Aerials, Stealing and Switching Partners, Jazz Movement, and Floor Craft. Chad and Brandee have taught together for years at the Metronome Dance Center.
Brandee began teaching at the Metronome Dance Center in 1999 after graduating from the Ballroom Dance Teachers College. Specializing in Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing, Brandee's knowledge of and competence in the technical aspects of dance has earned her a solid reputation among teachers and students. In addition to teaching, she has developed national curricula for a dance teacher training program and written manuals for Dance Vision. Currently Brandee is studying to become a Feldenkrais practitioner and plans on integrating Feldenkrais into her teaching.
Chad and Brandee will be teaching Jump Session Series E: Lindy + Spins & Slides and Back 2 Basics Series B: Lindy + Breakaways in May 2008.
